FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano (The Italian Environmental Fund)

Monte Fontana Secca and Col de Spadaròt were donated to FAI in April 2015, with the aim of ensuring their protection and enhancement.

The project, to which Fondazione SAME contributed, promoted the revitalisation of the alpine pasture and the integration of traditional activities with new functions for hospitality, training and education, in full respect of sustainability principles and with particular attention to preserving the site’s historical heritage.

On 16 September 2025, the Monte Fontana Secca mountain hut was opened to the public.

The interventions focus on the restoration of the main buildings of the malga, including the Stallone, which was completely rebuilt and now dedicated hospitality, refreshments and educational activities, and the Casera di Valle, which today serves as a narrative space for reading and enhancing the landscape in its natural, cultural and social dimensions.

This project has restored a site of great environmental and historical value to the public.
