Support for women in Bukavu – Democratic Republic of Congo

The project, supported by Fondazione SAME, has promoted the development of a women agricultural cooperative in Kaniola, Bukavu, with the aim of ensuring economic sustainability, promoting women independence and supporting their children education.

In 2024, two young agronomists from Kaniola travelled to Same, in Tanzania, to attend a horticulture training course at the St. Jacobus Institute. On their return to Bukavu, they launched training initiatives for 50 women in the cooperative, supporting the launch of agricultural activities: from land vegetable cultivation to building connections with local markets in Kaniola and Bukavu.

The first community sale took place in January 2025.
